Jim Ross on WWF.com broke some very sad news: the wife of William Moody aka Paul Bearer has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I got annoyed with his character at times, but I wouldn't wish ill on him or his loved ones.

I hope you'll join me in sending hopeful vibes her way.

The latest news on Hulk Hogan's proposed new federation deal with Universal Studios is that it fell through.

I can't say that I'm surprised.

Hogan's statements that he and old guard wrestlers would just provide star power while giving high exposure to new talent... well, let me make a comparison from my home town of Montreal:

We had an old-time wrestling legend here known as The Great Antonio. In his youth he gained fame pulling busses by sheer muscle power; in his older days he was just a streetie who embarassed people into letting him in to shows and movies for free.

Anyways, when I saw him he was always insisting he was going to record an album, that he was a better singer than Frank Sinatra.

Everyone knew this was a rib; the man had a loud atonal voice like a wounded yak. So we'd just nod and let him say what he wanted, rather than argue.

(He's been gone for many years, RIP)

Whenever Hogan swears that he'll push young talent, or that Vince McMahon will give him $50 million to start up... we just nod and walk on, not taking it seriously either.

From the ratings, it looks as if RAW is rebounding a bit with this whole invasion storyline... but I see a major danger in the way they're doing things...

One of their top faces defects to the other guys, and matches end with run-ins and interference... it seems way too similar to the nWo storyline!

At least the writers for WWF programming can book it far more intelligently if this is indeed what they're doing.

The days of decent wrestling-specific Websites is running down: Rantsylvania has announced it'll close soon for costs being too high. First Wrestlecrap, now this.

Sadly, the sites not worth even mentioning are still thriving.

I just got home from watching InVasion.

To quote the typical ECW fan: "Holy sh$t!"

Rob Van Dam against Jeff Hardy was the incredible spot-fest match I anticipated. I just hope RVD getting a title right away doesn't start to waste him as they did with Jerry Lynn... Taz/Tajiri didn't get the chance to really bloom into a classic, but it was indeed fun.

Kidman/X-Pac I called: Billy was the fan favorite here, even though X-Pac was supposed to be.

The swerve in the inaugural brawl was one that I predicted (many others did before me), but it was also one I wish I'd bet on... one of my friends was sure it would be Chris Jericho instead.
