Lots to go over. A week's worth of events, because I couldn't get off my lazy ass before now:

  • First, an overdue correction: Rocco Rock was Ted Petty, not Fred.

  • Unforgiven was mostly a solid event. Angle versus Benoit was in my opinion the best match of the night, with some impressive counter-wrestling spots and two guys just working their pants off.

Rosie and Jamal had an impressive in-ring debut. A large man doing a moonsault brought back fond memories of Vader.

There were some major gripes though: First, the payoff of the Steph angle. It was funny in the end - but it was very easy to recognize Rikishi before he removed the 'disguise'. If he'd been less recognizable at first, it would have been more surprising.

Second, the DQ finish for Brock versus The Undertaker. Yes, this extends the feud and yes, there aren't many top level faces beyond 'taker to work with, but having a non-finish for the first event at the Staples Center displeased the fans there as well as those of us who watched it.

  • RAW was again an improvement, but the latest defectors to RAW just didn't make sense.

Bischoff met Randy Orton on Smackdown! about a month ago, and didn't seem terribly interested in him. The fans also don't appear very impressed with him yet, as he's still too green. I guess it makes sense that now each brand has a third generation superstar.

The Hurricane though... I guess there was no more interest in using him in the Cruiserweight division? His tag title win with Kane against the UnAmericans felt a bit anti-climactic, but they now make sacrificial lambs for the Island Boys.

  • Pete Rose is back, in one of the funniest commercials the WWE have put together in ages. Glad they got to continue that missing storyline!

  • Smackdown!... it's practically impossible to top anyone else's review of this show. Eddie Guerrero versus Edge was a match worthy of PPV... and we got it on 'free' TV! Then we got an excellent Triple Threat match to end the show... more like this will make me a happy fan.

Sad news for wrestling fans: Fred Petty, known as Flyboy Rocco Rock of The Public Enemy died of a massive heart attack Saturday. He was only 49 years old.

Then WWF didn't know how to use the team. WCW before them watered down their effectiveness. In ECW, TPE were four time tag team champions, and a hardcore wrestling legend. They were the team that proved that being large men didn't mean permanent relegation to just using weight as an attack.

As a longtime fan of this "sport", I'll miss him greatly.
