In a case of "What's McMahon smoking?": he re-hired Vince Russo. The racist, toilet-humor minded man who helped the downfall of WCW.

I know McMahon is desperate for better ratings now... but he blew the InVasion storyline, the nWo proved as lame a duck as many of us said, Hulk Hogan the same... now this.

I think we're seeing the end of a desperate man's folly.

This week's RAW was much better. No new stars were really created (although Jackie from Tough Enough 2 announced she wanted to come there, and Chris Harvard had his in-ring debut -- putting the significance of the competition aspect of TE all to hell), and what few storylines were started don't really grab me (another run for Ric Flair... he's a legend in the ring, but his best matches are far past now)... but what really bugged me is Vince making the whole Steve Austin situation feel like more of a work.

Good storylines are something we fans look forward to... but feeling like we're being treated as fools has a tendancy to backfire.

I don't know if it's really just a storyline, or Vince trying to defuse the situation by making it feel like one... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I saw Vince and Jim Ross talking about the release of Steve Austin (Williams) on Confidential last night. Between that and the focus on the incident on the WWE Website, I was anticipating it being an elaborate work...

Then today I read about Steve allegedly hitting Debra... she didn't press charges, but police came to their home to find her bruised up...

Either this is all part of a major angle to 'work the smarts', or Steve has really gone off the deep end.
