Once again, a week-in-one post. We've had horrendous heat and humidity in Montreal, which slowed me down - ironic, seeing as this is one of the rare cities on the East Coast to have electricity yesterday... but that's life:

  • RAW was strange for me this past week. The actual wrestling wasn't memorable, but for once, by fluke, some of the skits were actually amusing!

Rosie's "Superhero In Training" bits were actually funny... and Lance Storm's Goldust bit had me in stitches. As he delivered the lines completely deadpan really added to it as well.

As to their "dedication" to Spike TV: somehow, having Spike Dudley run in for Christian to squash really seemed pointless to me.

Speaking of Christian and the IC title: I've heard that if Booker T needs back surgery, it may end his career. I hope that remains a rumor only.

  • Smackdown! was very schitzophrenic this week too.

We got two great matches (the tag title defense and Tajiri / Rhyno... but the rest of the show was mostly forgettable. What I will remember though, is how the show followed a recipe for a guaranteed flop:

    1. Give Vince McMahon have a 15-minute opening promo.

    2. Close the show with more of him. Add Sable, Albert in the main event, and a non-wrestler in Stephanie.

Forget the electricity failure - this is all a guarantee of a ratings flop!

Add to that a string of commercials with the extremely under, soon-to-be-in-the-family Triple-H, and you can hear the ratings drop.
