Funaki is the number one contender for the Cruiserweight title? FUNAKI?!

Looks like that will be the throwaway match for the Armageddon PPV. If he was Sho Funaki from Kai En Tai then he'd be credible as a challenge. After being Jobber to the Stars for so long in WWE, he has no credibility whatsoever. Paul London would have been a far more interesting challenger.

It's a shame that a fairly good Smackdown! started with such a poor decision on the opener. Much as I've grown bored with RVD as a singles wrestler in the federation, I have to admit that in a tag team with Rey Mysterio Jr. he's actually way more interesting. I have a hope that they'll retain the tag team titles on Sunday.

JBL I'm afraid may end up retaining the World title, after his team lost tonight. As to the Big Show being a South Carolina native... I thought he was a fellow Canadian? Ah well... at least he made for a payoff to Kurt Angle's hometown hero challenge.

RAW was a bit disappointing tonight. I'd expected the Powers that Be to declare that HHH won the match last week due to the draw. That would leave Y2J to try for the title this week.

Instead, he was shafted by the vacant title announcement. That made him the only member of his team not to at least try for the belt, since Chris Benoit and Maven got shots, and Randy Orton couldn't.

The limbo contest was just a waste of airtime. I just spent it all cursing that we didn't have another match instead.

One thing was certain though from Jericho and Fozzy: Don't you wish you were me had to be made listenable with studio magic, because that was just awful! It made my ears bleed.

A shame Ric Flair didn't get a match in his hometown, even if he embarasses his legacy everytime he does now...

We also got to see Maven's full heel turn. Maybe some of the theories I've heard could work, having him join Evolution. I suspect Batista will break off soon, and the stable will need new blood.
