I came into Smackdown! with some trepidation. I didn't read any spoilers on Online Onslaught, but Rick Scaia said the spoilers e-mail had the title, "I paid 30 bucks for this crap?"

Well, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. In all there were only 4 matches. Lots of promos to set things up, but little in-ring action.

Plus, some of the little we had also made little sense. Booker T versus The Undertaker again did nothing to elevate Book. There was no "Papa Shango" as people guessed, so his entire voodoo bit became meaningless. The end of the match just furthered a story for 'taker and the Dudleys. Booker wasn't even around by then.

So, I can see how the show would be disappointing to fans who paid to attend.

On tonight's Smackdown!, the death of another WWE legend was announced: James Dudley, the original Bad Leroy Brown, and a manager for another wrestling legend Bobo Brazil.

We last saw Dudley wheeled out by Stephanie McMahon a few years ago on RAW.

At the time I read the story of how Vince Senior asked his son on his deathbed to always take good care of Dudley. Tonight I also learned he worked for 3 generations of McMahons back to Vince's grandfather. We also learned he lived to the ripe old age of 93.

He wasn't a SuperStar today, but he was a true superstar of the business.

I saw part 2 of the Vince McMahon interview last night on TSN's Off the Record.

One of the good things he said was that he'll be an off-screen person from now on... he's finally realized that he can't be a regular performer anymore.

Haven't I been saying how sick we are of seeing him for some time now? Finally!

He also admitted that the Smackdown! roster is a bit thin... so the show sucks right now, but he's working on it. Hope it works, and soon.

So it seemed confirmed on this week's RAW: Victoria will now use only her lapdancer intro, at least until hopefully more people get annoyed by it.

Sylvan Grenier said in interview how he thought he'd be cheered as a hometown hero here in Montreal. He wasn't kidding - and the hometown hero won the tag titles too? Incredible. I just hope this incarnation of La Resistance is more interesting than the old one.

The WWE wisely didn't have Shawn Michaels or Earl Hebner on the show. This would not be a time for Shawn to be treated as a heel.

Matt Hardy is getting a push as a face. I wonder if his brother Jeff will now come in as a heel to feud with him? If so, I hope they've learned from how poorly they worked against each other the last time... and corrected it.

I was surprised to see Eugene in the Main Event already. At least they managed to give him a win without Kane putting him over (thus taking some of his heat away for his PPV match). I wonder though: was I the only one who recognized Chris Benoit's "Prove me wrong!" catch-phrase from "Uncle Eric"?
