Well, "Project Lesnar" continues. Brock is Undisputed champion. This really pleased the fans at the sports bar I watched Summerslam at (myself included) - and I could swear I heard fans chanting, "Rocky sucks!" at the event too.

The PPV started with a hot opening bout: Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. This match had many cool spots and some fantastic counters by Kurt.

Rob Van Dam regained the Intercontinental title from Chris Benoit. When Eric Bishoff gloated that Smackdown! lost, Stephanie just laughed. Might this mean she's signed over RVD, or the title will have to remain on her show? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The biggest surprise of the night was Shawn Michaels versus Triple H. Shawn had way more wrestling skill than some of us thought, and he put on a great match. The story logic of the bout being 'unsanctioned' was shattered even more though: if the match was unsanctioned, why did -

  1. they hype it in promos for so long?

  2. did Shawn have his opening pyro?

  3. was there the head referee (Earl Hebner) as the third man?

The finish was done in a way that preserves the heat for both wrestlers; Shawn won but Helmsley's attack in the end still cemented his rep as a bad-@ss.

Overall, I'd say this was one of the better PPVs this year.
