I haven't updated this journal in a week. Smackdown! just sapped out my interest in posting... but I couldn't allow today to be a quiet one:

Today, May 23rd marks the 5th anniversary of the death of Owen Hart at the Over the Edge PPV at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City.

I still remember watching the event at a friend's home, but the rest of the event is a blur to me. After Jim Ross told us that Owen was being taken to a hospital, that it wasn't an angle, I didn't really pay attention to the rest of the show. Once they announced he'd died... I don't remember anything.

To this day I'm amazed that any of the wrestlers could focus on their performance that night. This is why I'm very much in the "they shouldn't have gone on" camp.

Granted the point is moot. What is important is that we lost what I've read was a great person, and far too young. 5 years, and I can still remember it well.
